Asset tagging, specified for your sector
Asset tagging by industry is not a marketing split. The tag that survives a hospital ward will peel off a factory gearbox, and the reverse is also true. The process is the same everywhere: verify, tag, record. What changes is which assets get missed, what the tags have to survive, and who is going to ask you to prove the register.
Where we work

Disinfection strips ordinary tags within months. Clinical areas need acetone-activated or aluminium, and the register usually has to serve donor reporting as well as finance.
EducationEducationSchools, colleges and universitiesSix tagging environments inside one perimeter, and an estate where the assets stay put while the people rotate every year.
GovernmentGovernmentCounties, parastatals, agencies and utilitiesDispersed facilities each keeping their own list. The biggest single gain is usually one numbering scheme across the whole estate.
HospitalityHospitalityHotels, lodges and serviced apartmentsMore asset value in things no metal tag will attach to than any other sector. Soft furnishings need their own answer, and inventory needs its own count.
ManufacturingManufacturingPlants, workshops and industrial operationsThe harshest tagging environment we work in, and the sector where reconciling maintenance records to the asset register pays for the project on its own.
ConstructionConstructionContractors, plant hire and site operationsAssets with no fixed home. Number by asset rather than by site, and log the transfer every time equipment moves between projects.
What changes in asset tagging by industry
| Sector | Tag types normally specified | What usually goes wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Healthcare | Acetone-activated, aluminium, polyester | Disinfection cycles, donor reporting, split biomedical and finance records |
| Education | Self-adhesive, aluminium, polyester | Bulk ledger lines, hostel furniture, annual staff and student rotation |
| Government | Self-adhesive, aluminium, acetone-activated | Multiple facilities with incompatible numbering, audit scrutiny, custody transfers |
| Hospitality | Polyester, aluminium, acetone-activated | Soft furnishings, refurbishment write-offs, fixed assets mixed with inventory |
| Manufacturing | Anodised aluminium, acetone-activated | Heat and solvent exposure, maintenance records that never reconcile |
| Construction | Anodised aluminium, acetone-activated | Assets with no fixed location, untracked small tools, hired plant confusion |
Tag material is specified per asset class and environment on every project, never bought in bulk for a whole estate. The four types are covered in full on the asset tags page.
We work well beyond these six
Retail, financial services, NGOs, professional services, logistics, agriculture and religious institutions are all part of our work in Kenya and the wider region. Our clients include Carrefour Kenya, Maisha Bora Sacco, ISM, Riara Group, Vizx Global Solutions, KCI, Mombasa County schools and Executive Residency, alongside many smaller offices with a few dozen assets each.
If your sector is not on this page, the answer is almost certainly still yes. Call +254 784 166 787 or see our case studies.
If your sector is not on this page, the method does not change. Tell us what the assets are, where they sit and what they are exposed to, and we specify from there. We have tagged assets in banking halls, sacco branches, retail chains, NGOs, research institutes, transport depots and residential estates without any of them needing a bespoke process.
Three things decide the specification in every sector. The surface the tag has to bond to, which rules out adhesives long before anyone argues about price. The cleaning or operating regime the tag has to survive, which is what actually kills most labels. And who will read the tag later, because a tag that only a specialist can interpret will stop being read within a year.
The register that comes out the other side is the same in every sector: one number per asset, a location, a custodian, a category, a cost and a date, all of it exportable and all of it traceable back to something a person physically saw. That is what makes it defensible in an audit, which is the only test that matters. Asset tagging by industry changes the tag, not the standard.
